Our FreeMeals.org volunteers galvanized into action on Friday July 30th to give out large boxes of fresh produce to families in need.

Two volunteers Akhil Duggal and Meera Jagannath drove to a Hayward facility to pickup the grocery boxes donated by Sewa International’s Bay Area Chapter.

Thanks to Rajeshji of Sewa International for getting us these boxes within one week of us reaching out to them.

Nine FreeMeals volunteers showed up to deliver in a socially distant way these grocery boxes by putting them into trunks of families.

However, within an hour, we had run out of all the boxes and still had three more families show up. So our Founder Reena Jadhav hurried over to the local Raleys to get three more boxes of fresh groceries, eggs and pasta!

It was so gratifying to see the big broad smiles on these families faces, knowing they were going home with fresh healthy groceries.

It was truly a beautiful way to end a Friday! 18 families won’t be sleeping hungry this week, and for that we thank our donors and volunteers with both hands.

Our Sincere gratitude to the below volunteers who made this possible:

1. Radel
2. Anish
3. Naeem Shahpurwala
4. Mirjam Dijkxhoorn
5. Meera Jagannath
6. Sidharth Krishnan
7. Dr. Sheila Dobee
8. Harinder Bath
9. Akhil Duggal
